Ethiopian Americans in San Jose, CA founded , Citizens league of Ethiopian Americans (CLEA ) in 1998, as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, educational and community advocacy organization. For the past decade, CLEA has been striving to enhance political awareness, promote the participation of the Ethiopian-American community in the mainstream political system, and to empower interested Ethiopian-Americans to be engaged in various levels of government. CLEA strives to improve community awareness, involvement, and leadership through advocacy, recruitment, and education of the Ethiopian-American community in the United States.

Ethiopian-Americans

Ethiopians living in the US and Ethiopian-Americans are the largest immigrant group from the African Continent. They are the best-educated and the most productive work force. Ethiopian Americans make up the largest immigrant group from the African continent in the United States. In Washington DC metro area has the highest concentration of Ethiopians in the U.S., Los Angeles , San Francisco Bay Area , Atlanta , Minnesota , Seattle, Las Vegas and major Metro cites in US are considered to have one of the largest communities in the United States. It is impossible to find an accurate published data regarding the census but it is generally accepted that there are anywhere between 500,000 to 750,000 Ethiopians are living in US. Also Los Angles has a "Little Ethiopia" section located in Fairfax Avenue between Wilshire and Olympic Boulevards, home to a majority of the city's 55,000 Ethiopians.
